Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck usually goes by other names including: Walkie-Rider, Rider or Walkie. These pieces of machinery are essentially a motorized version of a pallet jack. They are available in both "Walkie" models and "Rider" versions.
The walkie type as the name implies, is made to allow the operator to walk along the machinery while they lift and move loads. The operator stands on a small platform on the Rider model. The rider models are great for frequent transporting of cargo over extended distances in manufacturing applications and warehouses. They are extremely maneuverable and fast.
It is essential to remember that there is no safety cage on this model and hence, it is not recommended to move tall or unstable loads with these machinery. A rider could be the best answer if you are looking for a cheap way of moving cargo from one place to another. If though, you must move heavy loads short distances, and prefer to use a more employee-friendly unit instead of a pallet jack, the walkie model can be the best alternative.
Order Selector
The order selector or order picker is a piece machine designed specifically for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks connected to a platform in the Man-up design. This platform elevates both the load and the operator with a purpose to facilitate manual loading and unloading from racking areas.
Order Selectors are normally very narrow aisle vehicles that can operate in aisles of less than six feet. They are very useful pieces of machinery in physical inventories as well as during cycle counting situations. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, though models that range in the 20 to 30 foot range are a lot more common.
